Dance
The Capistrano Valley High School Dance Department provides an engaging and comprehensive dance experience for every student. Our program offers diverse training and performance opportunities across a wide range of dance styles, including ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced classes are offered, there is no experience needed for Beginning Dance classes.
There are many performance opportunities for dance production students including performances at the STEAM Showcase, Back to School Night, 8th Grade Expo/Open House, Pep Rallies, the annual Spring Dance Show and more! If you have stage fright, no problem, performances are optional!
Students will receive instruction in key areas like flexibility, alignment, strength, and body conditioning to support their growth as dancers. The department also emphasizes the importance of student-led choreography, promoting creativity, and leadership skills. Students will collaborate with professional dance artists and showcase their work at the Spring Dance Concert.
Our mission is to ensure that all students develop confidence in their dance abilities while gaining the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary to apply their learning beyond the dance classroom. Through training and meaningful experiences in choreography, performance, collaboration, and creative expression, students will develop discipline, resilience, communication, critical thinking, and creativity that prepare them to succeed in college, careers, and life.
