Middle School Audition Criterion
Auditions will take place Wednesday June 5th, 2013 from 4:30-6:00 pm. Students can arrive warm up and play when they are ready.
No set time is required. Play anytime from 4:30-6:00 pm
There will only be ONE opportunity to auditions for the 2013-2014 school year. All students must perform June 5th.

All students must prepare the Pacific Youth Symphony Audition Excerpts. Please see the attached link to find your specific instrument’s excerpts. String players should play the Pacific Symphony and NOT the Santiago Strings Excerpts.

Capistrano Valley High School Instrumental Music Update
All-State Accolades
The Capistrano Valley Advanced Orchestra has been selected to perform at the 2013 California State Music Educators Conference in Fresno on Friday February 23, 2013. Capo Valley was selected through a blind audition process, and is the only high school orchestra performing at this year’s conference.
In addition to the String Orchestra’s performance, Concert Master Hao Zhou will be performing in the American String Teachers Association’s Concerto Competition, Showcase WinnersRecitalSaturday, February 23, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. Hao is currently a sophomore at Capistrano Valley High School, and a member of the Tennis team and ATMS program.
Capo Valley Sophomore Lily Homma, a French Horn player, was selected to perform in the 2013 California Band Directors Association All-State Band. Lily was selected out of over 1,600 applicants. Additionally, Lily was selected for the second year to the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association’s Honor Ensembles.
New to Capo Valley High School's program, Freshman Cellist, Renee was selected to perform as a member of the SCSBOA All Southern Symphony Orchestra.

Marching Band Recap
Congratulations to the CVHS Black and Gold Brigade on their outstanding performance at the Southern California Judges Association, State of California Championships in Menifee, CA. The Brigade captured their 4th consecutive SCJA title and were awarded first place for their performance in Percussion and Auxiliary Group. This marks the end of an undefeated season for the CVHS Black and Gold Brigade who also captured their first Black Opal Class Title at the Winter Guard Association of Southern California’s; Marching Band Open Series Title the week prior. The Black and Gold Brigade won awards for high music and high visual in the Black Opal Class at the MBOS Championships. Way to go Cougar Band!
