It is extremely important that your student creates his/her own Student Portal account immediately and completes this process in a timely fashion.  Failure to submit a course request, electronically or in print, may result in your student being placed on a wait list for courses in high demand and/or make it difficult to get their first choice of elective classes.  You can log in to the Parent/Student Portal at  There are also helpful  FAQ’s and videos to assist you in creating your account.

Advisement for Fall 2015 Course Requests

Throughout the week of March 9-13, core subject teachers (English, Math, Science, Social Science, World Languages) have applied CUSD course placement guidelines to place students into appropriate core subject courses for the 2015-16 school year. Teachers also conferred with their students about the course placement if students and/or teachers felt the placement might need additional consideration.

Yesterday, during 4th period tutorial on Thursday, March 12th, students received a course offering list for the Fall 2015 semester as well as additional considerations for reference when completing course requests in Student Portal (which are listed below).  Beginning Saturday, March 14th students will have access to Student Portal to enter course requests at the following link:  Aeries SIS: Portals

Course requests must be completed prior to March 23; at that time, the Student Portal will close and Academic Advisors will begin meeting with English classes for 1:1 student advisement meetings until April 15. The ROP Coordinator and other Guidance team members will be available before school, during passing periods, break, at lunch and after school to answer any of your questions. If you have any questions regarding classes, see your Academic Advisor or go to the CVHS webpage: We have converted to conducting most functions electronically. You will be requesting your classes online through the STUDENT PORTAL.

·         Electives were not chosen for you. Use the course offerings sheet to choose your electives.  List an alternative elective in the Course Request screen on the STUDENT PORTAL to increase the chance of getting your desired elective!

·         Students entering the 10th grade must take 6 classes.

·         Students entering the 11th or 12th grades and are on track for graduation must take a minimum of 5 classes. However, please encourage your student to enroll in a minimum of 6 classes to ensure graduation.

o   Students entering the 11th grade with 120 or more credits are on track for graduation.

o   Students entering the 12th grade with 170 or more credits are on track for graduation.

·         Seek the advice of your teachers regarding your class selection.

·         Discuss with your parents.

·         Please make sure to reference the Course Placement Guidelines

·         The Academic Advisors will choose classes for students who have not completed the process.

·         A process is being developed to allow families to request for their student to take less than at least one on-campus class after lunch.

o   Do not plan on having a 5th and 6th period free.

You will have the best chance of getting the classes you request if you

The library has computers available for students to use to log on to their portal.
If you need further assistance with your portal, please come to the Guidance Office.

Parents were required to open a parent portal account as part of the registration process. Some of the tools within parent portal include: updating and keeping emergency contact information updated all year long, viewing live up-to-the-minute attendance data, viewing and printing unofficial transcripts, viewing and printing test scores including college test scores,  viewing course requests during registration and viewing current class schedule.

Students should also create a Student Portal account so that they have access to the same information and records as the Parent Portal. Students need their seven digit student ID number, an email address (must be different than their parents’), and the unique verification code that was used to create the Parent Portal account (This number can be obtained from the CVHS guidance office).  Beginning March 14th, CVHS students will use their Student Portal account to complete the course request process to choose electives. It is essential for students to have a valid Student Portal account to properly request courses. Students do not have the ability to change the data that parents enter in the Parent Portal. Information regarding opening a Student Portal account is available at
