We would like to invite you to participate in this year's Governor's Challenge competition- a contest among K-12 schools that challenges California students, parents and teachers to get more active, healthy and fit.
Governor Schwarzenegger has challenged Californians to be active 30-60 minutes a day at least three days a week for a month. Research shows that regular physical activity during adolescence helps build healthier bones and muscles, and reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity. In addition, physical activity and fitness have been shown to be highly correlated with academic success.
Students that sign up to participate in the challenge will be able to download a free one day pass to Mammoth Mountain and a 30 day pass for a 24 hour fitness center near their home. Parents and teachers may also download a free 30 day pass to a nearby 24 fitness center. The schools with the most participants are eligible for prizes including a $100,000 fitness center.
Students can sign up for the Governor's Challenge directly, track their own active days and qualify for additional rewards at www.calgovcouncil.org/students
Parents Teachers can sign up for the Governor's challenge themselves and be active on behalf of Capo Valley HS at www.calgovcouncil.org/parentteacherandothers
