New Registration procedure for ROP!
Students wishing to take an ROP class during the Fall semester 2013 should list the class on their course offerings request sheet. Please note that some classes have prerequisites and age limits. If you have questions see Mrs. Deckert in the career center. Any student registering for an ROP class must fill out the ROP student enrollment form available in Guidance or the Career Center. These forms are dated and used to prioritize enrollment for impacted classes with enrollment limits. Even though your Academic Advisor may add an ROP class to your schedule in Aeries it must also be registered in the ROP data base for your enrollment to be official. Please remember to complete this step in the enrollment process so you are assured a seat in the class.
College Credit for ROP!
Students who take an ROP course and receive a certificate of completion may be eligible to receive college credit. The ROP has articulation agreements with Saddleback College in Auto Mechanics, Auto Engine, Small Business Management, IT Essentials, Careers in Fashion, Interior Design, Floral Design, Digitial Media1B, Digital Video and Childcare. Students enrolling at Saddleback should present the certificate of completion from their ROP class to their college counselor to obtain credit. If they wish to continue in this field of study they will skip the class that has been identified at Saddleback as a duplication of competencies. They will move to the next level continuing with an advanced class. See Mrs. Deckert in the Career Center if you have questions about articulation.
College Representative Visits
College representatives will be scheduling information sessions in the Career Center during the Fall. Students wishing to attend these presentations should pick up a class release slip in the Career Center. This slip needs to be signed by your classroom teacher giving you permission to attend. This slip will be stamped and will be used as your readmit to class after the presentation. All grade levels are welcome. These sessions allow the student to gather information on admissions, housing, sports, majors and college life on campus. Choosing your college is a difficult process and it is important to have as many facts as possible to aid in your decision making. A list of the representatives will be posted here weekly.
