Interested in being involved in the fall play next year?

Do you want to be a part of the first play production in the new theater? Register for 7th period Drama Musical Comedy, and you will automatically be added into the class as cast or crew. In September we will hold auditions for roles. Contact Mrs. Tucker for more information.

Auditions for Fall Classes

Auditions for Actors' Repertory class will be May 7 starting at 3pm.  Please bring 2 one-minute monologues.  They should be contrasting, and demonstrate your acting range.  For example, one could be a comedy and one a drama.  Or one could be Shakespearean and one more modern.  Etc.  Please also be prepared to answer questions about your previous theater experience.  This class is primarily for students who have completed Drama 1 and Advanced Drama, and/or have been in a play/musical at Capo.

Auditions for Advanced Drama will be May 3rd after school (3pm for current students, 4pm for incoming freshmen).  This audition is for anyone who has not taken Drama 1, but has previous experience with Drama (either in middle school, community theater, in plays, or maybe you truly feel like you have a talent for it and you have a genuine interest that goes beyond an introductory course.  The only way to get into Advanced Drama is to either take Drama 1, or to audition.  Auditions for current Capo students will be at 3pm, and auditions for incoming freshmen will begin at 4pm.  Please bring a 2 minute monologue that you have prepared by memorizing and thinking about character motivation.  I am looking to see that you can comfortably perform while on stage, and that you are not a complete newbie to the stage.

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Tucker through School Loop or at eatucker@capousd.org

Fall Play Auditions

For our Fall Play in 2012, we will be doing...

The Diary of Anne Frank

Auditions:  Friday, September 14th  3pm-7pm   Meet in C-1.

This is a dramatic play with serious subject matter concerning the Holocaust and World War II.  It is an autobiographical play, which means that it is based on the diary of a young girl who actually went through these horrific events.  If you have never heard of the play or the book, but intend to audition, do a little research.  Any amount will help.  :)  Remember, we are always looking for new blood, so if you've never auditioned before but have always wanted to, we welcome you with open arms.  Or, if you've auditioned multiple times but have never been cast, don't be disheartened! Theater is a tough business, but sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right play and character for you!  We welcome you (back) with open arms.  :)

The cast includes 5 females, 5 males, and 3 extras (Nazi soldiers).  Audition pieces will be available the day before auditions in C-1 or on this site for download.  This is not always the case, so make sure that you take advantage of the extra time that you have and really connect with the character.  Memorization is not required, but if you've had the piece overnight, it doesn't hurt to show that you've memorized it, while also exploring the depth of the character.  Also, when you pick up an audition piece, make sure to pick up the Audition Contract and have your parents sign it.  Bring this with you to auditions.

If you have any questions about auditions, please see Mrs. Tucker in C-1 before school, during breaks, or after school.  You can find her in C-7 during 2nd period.  Or, you can always email her through School Loop or at eatucker@capousd.org
